If you are thinking of becoming a singer and want to know how to properly use your voice, take my professional advice. First, make sure you are ready to commit time to practice your lessons. Every master will tell you, the secret to master is practice, practice, practice. Practice leads to accomplishments which leads to a deep enjoyment of singing: both for you and your audience.  Even if you are just trying it out (which is great), it pays to start out with the right expectation. Second, make sure that you are shopping for a teacher that has at least twenty years of experience.  You should get a private teacher that teaches one-on-one.  No classes. Don't shop to save money.  Shop for a good teacher that has knowledge and experience who can train you and develop your voice as your instrument.  

Voice teachers without experience will do and say anything to encourage you to take lessons so they can rip you off.  Additionally, they can actually do harm by straining your vocal chords.  Doing so could ruin your voice for the rest of your life. Great teachers are plentiful in big cities like LA, Chicago, and New York.  Unfortunately, right here in Temecula and the vicinity they are very, very rare.
